With its vision of becoming a leading player in ICT, Cybersoft undertakes various research activities targeted to place it at the cutting age of technology. Cybersoft
closely coordinates its research activities with those of the Computer Engineering Stream of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Addis Ababa University to come
up with high-end solutions. The major areas of the company's research activities include:
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Research in the area of Software Engineering focuses on the processes, methodologies and tools used in the development
of Software. Cybersoft's CASE tool supporting the UML standard of requirements definition is a product of this research activity. Here, the main
emphasis is placed on the object-oriented (OO) methodology and the Component Object Model (COM) approach.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
Cybersoft takes active interest in the area of knowledge management methodologies, which include neural networks,
fuzzy systems and hybrid systems. Cybersoft has developed various reusable tools and components such as Neural Network System tools,
Fuzzy Inference Engine and Function Class Library. It uses these components for expert system applications such as conflict early warning systems,
speech recognitions, roots-searching of transcendental functions and optical character recognition with excellent results.

MULTILINGUAL SOLUTIONS
Cybersoft has put considerable effort to improve the condition of computing with Ethiopic characters, which are not yet fully supported although they have appeared in Unicode
3.0. Cybersoft has come-up with an advanced solution to the problem by developing various components among which are an Amharic dictionary,
searching and sorting tools, font converters supporting the Unicode standard, keyboard driver, numeric converter and a calendar that works both in the Ethiopian and Gregorian calendars. These solutions
are distributed under the CyberGéez software package.
