CyberGéez

CyberGéez is a bilingual system developed by Cybersoft to work with the Ethiopic Language. It makes it possible to write both Latin-based and Ethiopic-based languages using one font. CyberGéez allows proper searching and sorting of Amharic texts - a feature not supported in any other application of its kind. The software also incorporates powerful features for font conversion, keyboard layout selection and setting, and Ethiopic number computing.

CyberGéez supports both UNICODE and Cybersoft's proprietary big font. The use of big fonts has many advantages over fonts that are based on the 256-character set such as CyberGéez-1/2/3, VG2000, etc. Some of these advantages are:

• Backspace Key clears the whole character - both the main character and the extension at the same time. In other Ethiopic software the Backspace Key will have to be pressed two times, first to clear the extension character and second to clear the main character.
• Changing font every time a user wants to switch between Ethiopic and Latin language is no longer necessary. A single key - the Scroll Lock - can be used as a more convenient switch.
• The problem of detached extensions that appear, for example, in Amharic Newspapers is eliminated with Big Fonts.
